Chipboard / Particle Board

Particle board is also known as chipboard, It is an engineered wood product manufactured from wood chips or jute stick chips and a synthetic resin or other suitable binder, which is pressed and extruded. It is a sustainable packaging solution for manufacturing industries. Particle board is often confused with oriented strand board (also known as flakeboard, waferboard, or chipboard sheets), that is a different type of fibreboard that uses machined wood flakes and offers more strength.

Chipboard or Particle board is cheaper, denser and more uniform than conventional wood and plywood and is substituted when cost is a major concern than strength and appearance. Particleboard can be made more appealing by painting or the use of wood veneers on visible surfaces. Though it is denser than conventional wood, it is the lightest and weakest type of fibreboard, except for the insulation board. Medium-density fibreboard and hardboard, also called high-density fibreboard, are stronger and denser than particleboard. Higher density of particle board allows greater cannoting strength and resistance to breakdown of screw fastener.
